From the leadership of our Managing Director, James Hodge, to the day-to-day expertise of our Laser Operators like Donna Williams and the operational oversight of our Operations Manager, Samantha Duhig, everyone played a crucial role in reaching this milestone.

At Javik Laser, we knew that obtaining this certification would set us apart in the competitive laser cutting and engraving industry, giving both our existing and potential clients confidence in our processes and capabilities.

Building a Strong Quality Management System
Samantha Duhig, our Operations Manager, took the lead on creating and refining the QMS. With her extensive knowledge of our operational processes and her ability to see the bigger picture, she ensured that the system was both comprehensive and user-friendly.
“We started by mapping out all of our processes, identifying areas where improvements were needed,” Samantha explains. “It wasn’t just about complying with ISO 9001 standards—it was about optimising our operations for efficiency and customer satisfaction. We wanted to make sure that every step we took was a step toward quality.”
Samantha worked closely with all departments to gather feedback, identify gaps, and implement improvements. From supplier management to customer communication, every aspect of the business was analysed and refined to meet the high standards required for certification.
Training and Inclusion of All Team Members
Donna, our newest Laser Operator, played an integral role in the implementation of the QMS. Although she’s still learning the ropes at Javik Laser, Donna’s eagerness to be involved and her sharp attention to detail have been invaluable in ensuring that our QMS reflects the realities of the shop floor.
“I’m still getting up to speed with some of the processes, but being part of this project has given me a deep understanding of how important quality is in everything we do,” Donna says. “The whole team has been really supportive, and it’s been great to contribute even as I’m learning.”
Donna’s fresh perspective, combined with her willingness to learn, allowed her to provide insights that helped fine-tune the practical aspects of the QMS. Her involvement underscores how important it is to have every member of the team, regardless of experience level, engaged in the process.
Samantha also coordinated training sessions for the entire staff, ensuring that everyone understood how the new QMS would work and what their role would be in maintaining it. The goal was to make quality everyone’s responsibility, from the moment an order comes in to the moment the finished product is delivered.
Overcoming Challenges
To overcome this, we adopted a phased approach to implementation. Rather than introducing all changes at once, we gradually integrated the new processes into our workflow. This allowed us to maintain our high level of service while making sure that the new quality management standards were met.
Samantha and her team were vigilant in monitoring progress, making adjustments where necessary, and providing additional training when needed. Thanks to their hard work, the transition was smooth, and we were able to maintain our productivity throughout the process.
